Thank you to everyone who supported our Dinner with The Earl Attlee at the stunning Caldy Golf Club on Friday.
We were delighted to welcome more than 50 members, friends and supporters to our event. We hope everyone enjoyed the evening, learning of The Earl Attlee's proposals for reform of the justice system.
The Earl Attlee first entered the House in 1992 and in 1999 was elected to be one of the remaining hereditary Peers. In opposition he served as a Whip and Spokesperson for various departments.
The Earl Attlee is Vice Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on War Heritage, which was established to promote and support the protection, conservation and interpretation of war graves, war memorials and battlefield sites.
Outside politics, Earl Attlee is a Major in the Territorial Army (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) and served in Operation Lodestar and Operation Telic. He was also President of The Heavy Transport Association between 1994 and 2008 and was an In-Country Director (Rwanda) of British Direct Aid between 1995 and 1996.
We are particularly grateful to The Rt. Hon. Esther McVey MP and Jim McVey for their generous donation of the magnificent boxed bottled of House of Commons Whisky signed by the Prime Minister, and to Trudi Brooks for her successful bid!
The initial forecast is that the event raised just over £1,000 for local funds - a tremendous achievement and every penny will be used to support our campaign in the constituency.
