Children and students across Wallasey and Moreton are set to benefit from a share of a significant £2.5 billion boost so they can learn in high quality buildings and facilities that are fit for the future.
Now, even more schools and colleges will receive investment to upgrade classrooms and refurbish buildings that will provide high quality learning environments – benefiting communities for years to come.
Schools in Wirral will now benefit from:
- £4.1m for maintaining and improving school buildings
- £591,000 for day-to-day repairs
- £381,000 to increase school places
Councillor Kathy Hodson, Chair of the Children, Young People and Education Committee, said: "Following on from the good news for Mosslands and Riverside, this additional cash will make sure that children and students across Wirral benefit from a better learning environment.
"I am particularly pleased to see extra cash coming to Wirral to increase the number of school places. We know demand at so many of our good and outstanding schools is higher than the number of places available, and this is also true in many of our schools for children with special educational needs."
Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education Robert Halfon added: "This significant investment will transform school and college buildings across the country so that they are fit for the future and can provide the best education for students, no matter where they live."
"We want every young person to have access to high-quality facilities and learning environments, to gain the skills they need to climb the ladder of opportunity into further study and work, whilst supporting efforts to grow the economy."
