The latest figures (May 2023) show that 2,405 people across the Wallasey constituency are out of work and receiving 'out of work benefits', mainly Universal Credit.
The figures are down from the most recent peak of 4,200 people in May 2020 during the pandemic. At the same time:
- Job vacancies in Wallasey and within 5 miles are 1,628
- Gross weekly pay for full time workers in Wallasey rose to £535
- The number of businesses is 2,360, up by 500 since Labour left office
