After several years of lobbying, first by Chris Blakeley and more recently by Councillor Vida Wilson, the Town Hall has published proposals to improve safety and access at the junction of Borrowdale Road and Hoylake Road in Moreton.
The plan (a copy of which can be found in the link below) includes:
- 'Give Way' road markings at Francis Avenue and Hoylake Road junction
- Pedestrian 'build out' near Francis Avenue
- Parking bay markings from 302-312 Hoylake Road
- Hatched markings down the centre of Hoylake Road to assist traffic turning into Borrowdale Road
- Extending double yellow lines on one corner of Borrowdale Road and Hoylake Road
The proposals are now out for consultation and residents and businesses are urged to give their views by 8th September.
Councillor Wilson said: "This junction has been a nightmare for long enough. Access is difficult, visibility is often poor and pedestrian safety at risk.
"This one of the first issues raised with me by residents when I was elected in 2022 and I'm grateful to the Highways Department for these proposals. I hope residents and businesses will respond, whether in support or with further ideas."
